Visotto Supermarkets: Over fifty years in large-scale retail trade

For over fifty years, Supermercati Visotto has been a well-established company operating in the medium and large-scale retail sector with 21 stores, including hypermarkets and supermarkets, located in the provinces of Venice, Treviso, Pordenone, and Udine.
Project objectives
Optimizing the Commercial and Human Resources Areas through Management Control

Visotto has chosen to establish a Management Control Organizational Function, with particular attention to the Commercial and Human Resources areas, with the aim of achieving significant financial returns and strengthening the company's managerial capacity.

This decision was made following a meeting with Relatech, which, through its E3 Suite solutions, offered an organizational and support process for the structured implementation of the Management Control function.

In the commercial sphere, the company expressed the following needs:

  • Ce.Di Area: analysis of purchases, sales and warehouse dynamics;
  • Point of Sale (POS) Area: analysis of loads and sales, both theoretical and actual margins, inventory control, as well as monitoring and oversight of promotional activities.

In the Human Resources area, attention was focused on monitoring and measuring the main efficiency and productivity indicators of staff, at store and department level.

Reasons for the choice
Visotto has chosen the suite E3 based on the following strengths:
Relatech guaranteed the results, starting from the personnel search and training of the resource dedicated to Management Control hired during the project process.
The E3 Suite has proven to be a mature, solid product with high processing capabilities, perfectly aligned with the control needs
The support of Relatech consultants, constantly present and collaborating with the technical team and company staff, ensured the project's success.
All this was facilitated by the inclusion of new sales representatives, naturally oriented to work with tools and data updated daily.
The Oracle data warehouse technology on which the E3 Suite is based has enabled granular data collection (down to the receipt detail for scanner sales and the single transaction for goods movements)
Benefits obtained
From goods traceability to store productivity

Through the E3 Suite, Supermercati Visotto quickly achieved its objectives of controlling and managing its primary operational processes. Operational control and network governance were implemented using the following tools:

  • The Sales Dashboard of the Point of Sale which expresses a complete commercial vision of the store/department with the benchmark comparison and is used by both the Sales Force and the Network Support
  • The Point of Sale Assortment Gap Analysis which examines the key elements for improving the point of sale assortment
  • Balance Sheet Management, which delves into the margin analysis by developing the REAL MARGIN and comparing it with the THEORETICAL MARGIN, according to the established periodic inventory rules; explores the analysis from the department to the item detail and highlights the KNOWN INVENTORY DIFFERENCES and, for the difference between theoretical margin and real margin, estimates the overall value of the UNKNOWN INVENTORY DIFFERENCES, highlighting areas for improvement.
In the commercial area it also focused on:

  • Controlling Margin Performance of Product Categories
  • Supplier Margin Performance Monitoring provided to Buyers as a negotiation aid
  • The management of promotional activities aimed at improving choices and ensuring correct product availability at the start of the campaign
  • Direct intervention on store stock-outs with particular attention to high-rotating network items

In the human resources area he obtained:

  • Month-end accrual and allocation of labor costs to operating units
  • Daily, weekly and monthly measurement of sales productivity, based on the hours actually worked in the individual points of sale
  • The availability of qualitative attributes on the workforce for qualitative and quantitative analyses
