Ignition 8 Platform

Web-based, Cross-platform, Mobile access, Unlimited licenses, Real-time control, Secure and stable, Easy to integrate, Scalable.

Description

Ignition is the software solution that integrates SCADA–HMI (control, supervision, data acquisition and visualization), MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management), and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) functionality into a single environment. Successfully used in tens of thousands of applications implemented in over 100 countries across a wide variety of industrial sectors (automotive, food, bottling, consumer goods, steel mills, environment and land, etc.), the Ignition software platform has been chosen by the world's largest companies: FCA, Morgan Stanley, Shell, Goodyear, Pfizer, and many others.

Based on the most performing database access technologies, Ignition allows you to meet the growing needs for data collection, real-time analysis and integration with IT systems coming from the world of industrial automation, and to fully implement the principles of Industry 4.0 and IIoT.

The latest release Ignition 8.3 is designed to further improve the user experience and developer productivity. This new version introduces a new, faster and more intuitive Gateway interface, improving efficiency in the day-to-day management of systems. The Perspective module is enhanced with advanced drawing tools, customizable forms, and offline support, offering developers greater flexibility. Other new features include Event Streams, for dynamic data flow management, and the new Power Historian, with a public API for advanced access to historical data. The update also includes Git integration for project version control, new security features, and notifications via WhatsApp and Twilio.

Siemens Driver Module

Version 8.3 introduces a new Siemens driver that enables seamless connectivity with Siemens PLCs. This new driver supports resource navigation, symbolic access, and direct access to I/O channels, eliminating the need for manual reconfiguration.

Perspective Module

Designed specifically for mobile devices, Ignition Perspective lets you create responsive web applications for the industrial world. It's a module designed to enable the creation of responsive mobile applications that run natively on any handheld device or web browser. Perspective is fully compatible with HTML5 and CSS3, allowing you to leverage the full power of the device's touch inputs and, when used via the Mobile App, also provides direct access to integrated sensors (GPS, video camera, accelerometer, etc.). With Ignition Perspective, you can easily design complex page layouts that automatically adapt to different screen sizes, all in a single design environment: Ignition Designer. Release 8.3 enhances the Perspective module with the introduction of:
  • Drawing EditorThis vector illustration interface lets you create and edit custom dashboard and HMI graphics directly in Ignition, handling SVG natively without the need for additional software.
  • Form Builder: allows you to quickly create flexible and customizable forms, easily configuring sections, fields, conditional logic and validation rules.
  • Offline mode: Allows you to input and output project data from remote sites, anytime, anywhere. The data will be stored and uploaded and synchronized with the systems as soon as the connection is restored.

Vision Module

The Vision module allows you to create HMI pages for viewing and analyzing data, both historical and real-time, as well as for controlling the system, using summary pages, animated synoptics, tables and interactive graphs.

Since all clients are connected to the central server, everyone will have constant access to up-to-date data.

SQL Bridge Module

Data Recording (periodic or event-based) and Data Exchange between PLC and Database (also bidirectional) functions, configurable in a simple and intuitive way, without writing code:

  • Unlimited Tags
  • From any data source (embedded drivers, OPC-DNUA, databases, files, web services, etc.)
  • To any SQL Database
  • No data loss (Store&Forward)
  • Automatic creation of tables in the database
  • Freely accessible “clear” data

Historian Module

Ignition 8.3 introduces a new suite for the Historian module, a universal and versatile solution that goes far beyond the concept of a simple Tag Historian. The suite includes two powerful and complementary modules:
  • Historian Core Module – Integrated, high-performance, and maintenance-free historian based on QuestDB, allowing you to store, analyze, and manage temporal data extremely efficiently. It offers native data aggregation, up to 10 times faster performance than the previous internal provider, and requires no configuration or external database.
  • SQL Historian Module – the ideal solution for integrating Ignition with external SQL databases, transforming them into high-performance historians and ensuring maximum flexibility and scalability.

The suite also offers:
  • advanced tools for the data modeling and metadata management,
  • possibility of using CSV files and database tables as a read-only historian,
  • a new one Public API which allows developers to create custom historians, making Ignition a true historiography platform.

Report Module

  • Graphic editor for creating reports, including parametric ones
  • Possibility to integrate custom models
  • Logos, Graphs, Tables, Barcodes, etc
  • Real-time data visualization
  • Automatic generation of reports (scheduling) in different formats
  • Print, Save to file, Send email, FTP, etc..

Alarm Notification Module

Alarm notification module via email, SMS and voice call, also standalone:
  • Flexible and dynamic alarm configuration
  • Graphical editor for defining notification and escalation logics (pipelines) (multiple notification, delayed, etc.)
  • Alarm notification based on Roles, contact information of each User (language, notification type, etc.) and on Work Shift Planning
  • Consolidating multiple alarms into a single notification message
  • Notification with acknowledge (2-way)

SFC Module

Graphical editor for creating logic and sequences using the SFC formalism (phases, transitions):
  • IEC 61131-3 Standard
  • Running multiple instances of the same sequence simultaneously
  • Ability to monitor the progress of each sequence in real time

Event Stream Module

With the new Event Streams Module, Ignition makes event-driven data management easier, faster, and more efficient. This module creates a native communication flow between different sources (such as tag variations or Kafka topics) and their handlers (scripts, databases, alarms), allowing for easy integration of heterogeneous industrial and enterprise subsystems.

  • Centralized management: Monitor tag changes, database events and alarms from one place.
  • Greater connectivity: Leverages queues, brokers, and message buses to receive and distribute data in real time.
  • Total flexibility: Use Apache Kafka to process data directly in Ignition or route it to external systems.
